Prunedale, Ca - This past weekend at Rocky Mountain Raceways, Jim Pettit and the Quentin Bammer owned Moeller Bros/HUR Racing Engines team continued their pursuit of the 2012 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship. The team scored its fifth consecutive top three of the year, as they finished 2nd in Saturday's "NAPA Auto Parts 125".
“It’s great coming to RMR, the fans are great and the track itself is one of the best on the schedule,” Pettit stated. “We felt really good about our performance all weekend, we were in position to get our second win of the year, but came up one position short. In the race our car got better as the runs got longer. I can’t say we would’ve got by Derek (Thorn) for sure, but if we hadn’t got that caution with 20 to go, it would have got real entertaining for the fans.”
With their second place finish, Pettit and his team maintained their second position in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour championship standings.
“The season is just past half-way, so there’s a lot of racing left, but at the same time we can’t give anything up. I think we’ll see at the end of the year that every position is going to be important in determining the championship.”
Next race for Pettit and the #18 team will be at Stockton 99 Speedway on August 18th. For 2012, Moeller Bros., HUR Engines, Golden Gate Petroleum, BizzwithBuzz.com and Swift Springs support Pettit and the Quentin Bammer #18 team.
