John Moore and JM Environmental Inc Set the Table for a Party at Stockton 99 Speedway

Bakersfield, CA – If there is a good time and a party to be had, Granite Bay, CA driver John Moore is sure to find it. On August 14th, that good time will be found at The New Stockton 99 Speedway. when The Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series invades for the “JM Environmental Inc. Wild West Showdown – Touch Too Much 227 presented by 51 FIFTY LTM”. It will be Round #8 of the 10-race championship schedule and the second and final event at Stockton in 2021.

The unique event will feature a winner’s share of $10,000 thanks to the Winner’s Bonus from John Moore and JM Environmental Inc. It will also feature 227 laps of racing on the historic ¼-mile oval, the most laps for any championship race in series history. In addition, $1,000 will be paid at the lap 127 break for tires and adjustments. Throw in the $2,750 Motor City Throwdown Challenge” offered to stop Derek Thorn Racing’s winning streak, and the event begins to take on even greater significance. Of course, a great party with John Moore is even more interesting when you toss in an extra $15,000 for the “To the Back Challenge” for any driver who qualifies in the top-eight, starts in the back, and wins. All told, one team could walk off with $28,750 if they meet all four feats. It is a sure beginning to an all-night celebration.

In the first two “Wild West Showdown” events, only one driver has accepted the “To the Back Challenge”. Christian McGhee Racing opted to start in the back of the 24-car field at Kern County Raceway Park, much to the delight of the fans. He made a charge to the front, but only got to seventh before cutting down a tire and incurring suspension damage. The challenge was worth $10,000 at Kern for a 75-lap event. With $15,000 on the line in 227 laps, the takers may outnumber the hesitant.

The challenge was a direct result of John Moore and JM Environmental Inc. The three-race series has seen $5,000 added to the challenge in each event, culminating in this weekend’s action, as Moore explains the origin of the challenge.

“The “Go to the Back’ challenge came from the Win River Races back in the day at Shasta Speedway. Twenty years ago, that was the biggest race of the year. Just to make the main event was a victory to line up on Sunday in front of a sold-out crowd. The only person to ever take the challenge and win was Eric Schmidt, in his #05. Not only did he qualify Fast Time, but he also started dead last and lapped all the way to second Place. Needless to say, the $10,000 was never offered again. It’s my way of honoring Eric Schmidt and giving the fans something to talk about..”

With McGhee being the only driver to accept the challenge this far, Moore is still happy with the results and the interest the program is attracting.

“Everyone’s talking about it so that is perfect”, Moore explained!!! “We may see a full re-draw invert to the back, which will play right into the event title; “Touch Too Much”! Ladies and gentlemen, race fans one and all, don’t miss this one. Tell a friend, history will be made.”

Moore has been a regular in SRL competition since 2018, and will make series start number 40 at Stockton. He has three top-five and 18 top-10 finishes. He was a Pacific Challenge Series Champion as well as a two-time championship runner-up. The Multi-time PCS winner is still looking for that first SRL win, but he knows it will be a challenge when competing against one of the Speed51.com top-10 short track drivers of the decade.

“The significance of winning any SRL race is a huge achievement”, Moore admitted. “We are racing in a time where we are racing against a legend, and possibly the best short track team in the history of Super Late Model racing. So, when you beat Mr. Thorn and the Campbell Motorsports Team, you have accomplished something extraordinary. That being said, anything can happen at “99”, and it’s not over ‘til it’s over.”

But with his new Hamke Racecars / Rowdy Super Late Model arriving in 2021, and his teaming with Linny White Racing, Moore has shown top-five speed in multiple events. At the second event of the season, Moore was battling inside the top-five in the Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway. Jacob Gomes and Moore made contact late in the event, sending Moore into the outside front stretch wall, ending his day. He was forced to his back-up car for several races, but got his new car back at KCRP again. Unfortunately, he was unable to avoid a lap-one race incident in front of him, ending his evening early in 24th position. He returned at Irwindale Speedway and scored a season best fifth, beating Buddy Shepherd for the position, and moving to 13th in the championship standings, despite missing one event due to a conflict.

“I’ve always said, give me a racecar that handles, and I’ll get it done”, Moore chuckled. “Step one, you’ve got to earn the respect of your team, and they have to believe in you, so they give you the effort. Driving a super-fast Rowdy car that handles doesn’t hurt either.”

Moore is thankful for the opportunity to compete at a high level in the SRL and for those who have made the journey possible.

The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will be joined by the Spears Pro Late Models presented by Sigma Performance Services. The Legends of the Pacific, B4 Cylinders, and Jr. B4 Cylinders will also be on the card. Qualifying will begin for the Legends at 4:30 pm (PST). The Pro Late Models and Super Late Models will follow at 5:15 pm (PST). Opening Ceremonies and the Feature Events will follow.
