Madera Speedway Nut Up Champion Heads to Roseville for the Spears Pro Late Model “51 FIFTY LTM. 60 presented by MPI”
Bakersfield, CA – 2019 Madera Speedway Nut Up Pro Late Model Champion Austin Herzog will venture out from his home track on September 18th, for the “51 FIFTY LTM 60 presented by MPI – Max Papis Innovations” at ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY – ROSEVILLE CA. It will be his second start in the Spears Manufacturing Pro Late Model Series presented by Sigma Performance Services, after attending the All-Star Showdown weekend at Irwindale Speedway in February. The event didn’t end as hoped, taking home a 19th place finish of the 37 Pro Late Models that attended, but Herzog will take his experience and learn from it heading to All American Speedway.
“I want to venture out a bit with my racing, to get the most experience I can”, Herzog related as to why he put this event on his racing calendar. “I feel racing some different tracks will help my racing skills, and also racing against some new drivers will also test me in different ways, helping me grow as a driver.”
Herzog has limited racing experience at All American Speedway, competing in twin Pro Late Model events in 2019 He finished 8th and 12th in those events. He also has a couple of starts in the Pacific Challenge Series with a best finish of sixth. He also has some more recent experience in a heavier ARCA Menards Pro Series West machine, when he participated in the BMR Academy tryouts earlier this season.
“I don’t have very much experience racing at AAS, but I feel that driving the “Academy” cars with BMR, and working with the coaches, helped me with the lines and the overall dynamics of the racetrack”, Herzog explained.
Herzog will rely on his racing experience to get up to speed over the two-days at the speedway. As mentioned, he was the 2018 Nut Up MAVTV Televised Pro Late Model Track Champion at Madera, which followed up his Rookie-of-the-Year crown and near championship in 2017. He has 13 career Main Event victories at the facility, one of them coming this season, where he stood second in the championship standings through five rounds. Six of his wins were in his Junior Late Model, where he held the record for several seasons.
In addition, the third-generation driver was the Fast Qualifier in the 2018 Senator’s Cup at the LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track, in a Super Late Model, and was the runner-up in the 2019 Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series 125 presented by 51 FIFTY LTM.” at Madera. He has Pro Late Model experience at Orange Show Speedway and two starts in the Winter Showdown for Super Late Models at Kern County Raceway Park. His best finish was a 14th in the prestigious event.
Herzog will now turn his attention to Roseville, where he will compete against several racers that were once regulars or semi-regulars at Madera. Drivers such as Jeremy Doss, Dylan Zampa, Logan Zampa, Seth Wise, and Trevor Huddleston are familiar foes for Herzog, and he looks forward to racing against them again on the 18th.
“It’s always fun racing with people that I’ve grown up with through my racing career and competing against them again.”
Herzog plans to attend the final three events for the SPEARS Pro Late Model Series and will be looking to get the effort off to a good start at Roseville. His efforts to do so would not be possible without support from his family, friends, and sponsors.
“I’d like to give a huge thank you to Nicholas and Tiffany Rowe with Rowe Environmental”, Herzog stated. “I’d also like thank Blaser Swisslube, Richard Herzog Construction, and I’m beyond grateful for the continued support of my family!”
The “51 FIFTY LTM 60 presented by MPI” will be Round #9 of the 11 race SPEARS Pro Late Model Series presented by Sigma Performance Services season.
