$15,000 to Win “Bischofberger Brawl 166” on Tap for the SPEARS Pro Late Models at Stockton 99 Speedway

Bakersfield, CA – The SPEARS Pro Late Model Series presented by Sigma Performance Services will be returning to Stockton 99 Speedway for the fourth time this season, on October 2nd. This time however, the teams will be shooting for a $15,000 payday with a purse of $47,000 for those who make the 24-car starting field for the “Bischofberger Brawl 166”. The Bischofberger brothers, Allen and Jeff, are responsible for the big paying event for the Pro Late Models, at the historic ¼-mile speedway. They felt it was a great way to give back to the sport, especially at a track that Jeff considers his hometrack on the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series.
“The SRL team has provided so many good memories for my brother, myself, and my family that we thought what better way to give back to them help, but to put on the best Pro Late Model race of the year”, Jeff stated. “Tony (Noceti) at Stockton is always so accommodating and willing to help, so we selected that track because we felt it would be appropriate to support those who support us racers.”
As a racer himself, in the SRL, Jeff knows of the difficulties encountered just to get to the track for each event. He and his brother Allen wanted to give the teams something to look forward to. They worked hard to raise the money to support not just the winner, but the entire field.
“We wanted to make sure there was a big money race for the Pro Lates towards the end of this year, that would bring out all the big hitters”, Jeff began. “When looking at the schedule, we just didn’t have confidence, so we figured we would take off our team “66” hat and put on our team “all racers” hat and put some effort towards all the drivers and helping them have 15,000 reasons to head to Stockton 99 Speedway on October 2. We worked hard to reach the $1000 to start goal, we really wanted to show all the drivers the support, not just the winner. We are really thankful for a few other teams within the SRL who made it possible for the large start money to be made possible. As a team ourselves, we understand the struggles to get to the track sometimes, and we felt it was important to do what we could to help . We really look forward to having a great time this weekend.”
The first three Spears Pro Late Model events at Stockton found one West Coast hot-shoe in Victory Lane. Championship leader Jeremy Doss won $7,600 in March in the “Asparagus 125” in a field of 25 Pro Late Models. He scored a $3,000 win in May in the “SPEARS Manufacturing 75 presented by General Tire”. In August he led a field of 21, in the “Sigma Performance Services 60 presented by General Tire”, earning another $3,000. On Saturday, he could walk off with $15,000, tying a career high payoff.
“I’m very excited to be racing for $15K at Stockton”, Doss described. “We’ve been fortunate to be able to win the first three races at Stockton, but with the big purse, there will be many heavy hitters gunning for us. We will be ready for the challenge.”
One driver that has been tearing it up lately is Kulwicki Driver Development Program finalist Dylan Zampa. Zampa won the last Spears Pro Late Model event at All American Speedway and has five victories in the NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts Weekly Late Model Series at the 1/3-mile facility. Zampa has also been solid at Stockton 99 Speedway. He has three top-fives in his three starts with a runner-up finish in his last visit in August. He currently sits second in the series championship standings and would love to score his second series victory in a row in the Port City.
“I’m excited for our chances this weekend”, Zampa exclaimed. “We had a good run last time we raced Stockton. I definitely think this will be a game of survival with the number of laps and all the heavy hitters that will be going for the $15K. Big thanks to the Bischofberger brothers and the Noceti group for putting on such an awesome race.”
Sitting third in the SPEARS Pro Late Model championship standings is Dylan’s older brother Logan. Logan is a former winner of the $10,000-to-win “Short Track Shootout” at Madera Speedway (CA). In five race starts, he scored four top-10’s with two in the top-five. He currently has four top-five, and seven top-10 finishes in the series, in nine starts. His season started off with a series worst finish of 13th, and he has been trying to play catch-up since that point. He hopes their issues have been ironed out and the Napa, CA driver expects to be a threat to win another huge Pro Late Model race this weekend.
“After winning the Short Track Shootout at Madera Speedway, we have ran into some overall bad luck with my racecar”, Logan explained. “I am hoping that after figuring out what has been wrong with my car, over the past couple races, we can run up front and compete for a win. Winning the Bischofberger Brawl would mean so much to me and my family, as the number of hours we put in the shop is finally starting to show on the track. Winning this event would rank at the top of my list of wins and it all wouldn’t be possible without my awesome family and sponsors; Halm Metal Fab, Huckfeldt Well Drilling, Anderson Logging, Sierra Speed Technology, Allied Propane, Allied Auto, Valley Fabrication, and Piners Welding.”
Stockton 99 Speedway will also be well represented, as 2020 Late Model champion Bubba Nascimento has entered the rich event. He is coming off a third-place effort at Stockton in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series event in August. It was a series best finish for him.
“I am super excited to be able to compete for $15,000 at a track that I have done very well at the past few years”, Nascimento explained. “We finished third to (Derek) Thorn and (Jacob) Gomes in the Super Late Model about a month ago. So, I hope that will carry over to the Pro Late Model and hope to finish two spots better.”
The field will contain additional Late Model champions throughout the state of California. They include two-time Pacific Challenge Series (PCS) champion Mike Beeler, All American Speedway (CA) and PCS champion Jason Romero, Madera Speedway (CA) champion Austin Herzog, Stockton Champions Sam Solari, Mike Regelman, Guy Guibor, as well as Irwindale Speedway (CA) multi-time champions Trevor Huddleston and Dean Thompson. PCS champion John Moore is entered as well as 2021 Bullring (NV) Pro Late Model champ Tanner Reif and Altamont Raceway Park (CA) and NASCAR State of California Champion Jason Gilbert.
Saturday will find the General Admission Gates open at 4:00 pm (PST) with Qualifying for SPEARS Pro Late Models scheduled for 4:45 pm. Racing will start at 6:00 pm with the Feature Event for the Jr B4’s kicking off the action. The Last Chance Race for the SPEARS Pro Late Models next. The B4’s will take to the track for their Main Event followed by the Bombers. The “Bischofberger Brawl 166” will round out the action with $15,000 going to the winner. There will be a halftime break for the competitors to take on fuel and make adjustments.
