Chris Clyne Realizes Goal of All-Star Showdown Appearance

Bakersfield, CA – 2019 LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track Super Late Model Champion Chris Clyne has submitted his entry for the 2022 “All-Star Showdown 200” at Irwindale Speedway on February 5th. The $25,000-to-win event has been on Clyne’s bucket list since the origination of the event in the early 2000’s under the NASCAR banner. Clyne will be bringing a Super Late Model purchased from 2019 Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series Rookie-of-the-Year Tyler Fabozzi. Clyne debuted the new car at the “Fall Classic” at the Bullring, finishing second behind two-time Mesa Marin Raceway Super Late Model Champion and SRL competitor Dan Holtz.

This will be Clyne’s eighth attempt at a SPEARS Southwest Tour Series start. His last start was at the “October Classic” at Kern County Raceway Park in 2020, where he finished 13th. He has two previous SRL starts at Irwindale, where he finished 15th and 22nd. The 23-time feature winner at the Bullring will look to improve upon his best series finish of 10th, and bring home a strong result on the ½-mile oval.

The driver from Las Vegas, NV and the 2019 Whelen All-American Series State of Nevada champion would like to thank Star Nursery, Royal Purple, Thomson Motorsports, Nostalgia Street Rods, Earnest Performance, J&R Flooring, and his crew for the opportunity to compete in the rich event.

The “All-Star Showdown 200” will take place on February 5th at Irwindale Speedway. It will kick off the 22nd season for the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour and the second for the SPEARS Pro Late Models presented by Sigma Performance Services. The Spears Modified Series will take part in their second event of the season, after opening at Havasu 95 Speedway. The Super Late Models will race for $25,000-to-win, with the Pro Late Models competing for $10,000-to-win and the SPEARS Modified Series will shoot for $5,000. Qualifying for all three divisions will commence at 2:00pm. 44 Super Late Models appeared in 2021 with 38 Pro Late Models and 22 Modifieds answering the call.

Celebrating its twenty-second season in 2022, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series…Where the Champions Race”.
