Majeski “Magical” in Debut of SRL National at Citrus County Speedway
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Inverness, FL (February 12, 2022) – One of the nation’s hottest Super Late Model drivers, Ty Majeski made history Saturday night in the Sunshine State of Florida. The 27-year-old driver from Seymour, Wisconsin, won the debut of the SRL National at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida.
Majeski scored the victory in dramatic fashion. After setting fast-time in qualifying, he led every circuit of the 125-lap race that marked the inaugural SRL National sanctioned event. Even more impressive was the fact that Majeski held off rival Super Late Model ace Bubba Pollard for the win.
“We came from a long way away and it costs a lot of money to do these races, but it feels good to come out on top,” said Majeski after collecting $15,000 for the win. “This track is a lot like some of the short tracks we race up in the Midwest. I watched a lot of racing videos before we came down and I learned a lot. We kept on working on it (the car) and I honestly wasn’t really happy with it after practice, but we finally got there (in the race).”
Majeski’s victory came off the heels of an announcement that he will race full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this year with ThorSport Racing. The first race for Majeski is this Friday, February 18 at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
“This is a great start going into Daytona,” added Majeski. “I’m super excited for that opportunity. Hopefully we have a lot of races to win on all fronts this year.”
Pollard, from Senoia, Georgia had won in his only other start at Citrus County Speedway during the Full Throttle 100 in 2020. In this race, he had an opportunity to challenge Majeski on restarts, but could not take the lead from the 91-car.
“It’s always fun to race here in front of all these people,” said Pollard, from Senoia, Georgia. “We struggled a little bit in practice, but we found what we needed and we had a good race car. I just couldn’t fire off on those restarts when I needed to. We were just a little bit snug and couldn’t get off the corner. That’s part of it; we learned a lot and we’ll keep working on it to get better.”
While a Lefthander Chassis by Toby Nuttleman won the race, Pollard’s 26-car and third-place finisher Anthony Cataldi’s double-zero machine were both from Port City Chassis.
“I can’t thank Bubba enough for giving me some help over the weekend,” explained Cataldi, who was the first Florida racer across the line. “Gary (Crooks) and everyone at Port City Racing helped a lot. My whole crew worked their butts off on this race car and got it faster and faster. We struggled a little bit at the end when we got just a little bit too free, but got a good third place finish.”
The next race for the SRL National will be on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Berlin Raceway in Marne, MI.
The next event for the SPEARS (SRL) Southwest Tour will be the $10K to Win JM Environmental Wild West Shootout on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at All-American Speedway in Roseville, CA.
