Bakersfield, CA – One of the most famous family names in Central California racing will return to the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series on June 18th at Kern County Raceway Park. Ross Strmiska, the third-generation driver from Manteca, CA, will make series start number 61, albeit only his eighth in the last seven seasons. His appearance at the $10,000-to-win “JM Environmental Inc. Wild West Shootout Flick the Switch 100” will be his sixth at Kern County Raceway Park, where he has earned a top-five and three top-10’s. His worst finish at Kern was in this event in 2021, where he came home 19th due to tire issues.
Strmiska did have five SRL starts in 2021 scoring two top-10 efforts. Overall, the son of the “Manteca Missile”, Ron Strmiska Jr., has 16 top-five and 39 top-10 finishes. Prior to 2021, Strmiska was coming off a season in which he finished third in the championship standings of the televised Nut-Up Pro Late Model Series at Madera Speedway. He competed in eight of the nine events, with five top-five and six top-10 finishes. In 2018, Ross scored his biggest career victory in the “Firecracker 125” featuring the “Ron Strmiska Memorial” at The New Stockton 99 Speedway’s long-time annual event.
The 10th Annual Bulwark ‘FR Firecracker weekend will see all three divisions of the SRL compete. The Spears Pro Late Models presented by Sigma Performance Services will compete for $5,400 and the Spears Modified Series $2,000. Thanks to John Moore, and JM Environmental Inc., Ross will go after a $10,000 win, teaming up with two-time series winner Blaine Rocha.
Celebrating its twenty-second season in 2022, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series…Where the Champions Race”.
