Bakersfield, CA – 2019 Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series champion Cole Moore will make his return to the series for the first time since 2021, when he competed at The New Stockton 99 Speedway (CA). He will make the trip from Granite, Bay, CA to the same historic ¼-mile for the “JM ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. Wild West Shootout – Dog Eat Dog 127” on July 15th. Moore was the series Rookie-of-the-Year in 2018 and became the only series champion to accomplish the feat without a win. He was consistent, however, and edged out Linny White for the championship by a mere nine points, the fourth smallest margin in the series’ 22-year history.
The 2019 season was a breakthrough year for Moore, after earning four victories in the Pacific Challenge Series and consecutive third-place championship finishes. But the team struggled with consistency in the PCS. His 2018 SRL bid found him fourth in points, garnering the Rookie-of-the-Year Award with three top-five and six top-10 finishes in nine starts. His championship go found Moore grabbing seven top-five efforts in nine events. And even though he didn’t find victory lane, he grabbed a runner-up finish at the “October Classic” at Kern County Raceway Park (KCRP), as well as third-place results at both KCRP and Irwindale Speedway (CA).
The 2021 season found Moore behind the wheel of an ARCA Menards Pro Series West car for team owner Bill McAnally and NAPA Power Premium Plus. He missed the championship and Rookie-of-the-Year Award by two points, behind Jesse Love and ROTY Jake Drew. In 2022, he was third in the championship standings again, grabbing a win at ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY – ROSEVILLE CA and two runner-up positions at Irwindale Speedway.
After his success in the “West Series” Moore hopped back in a Super Late Model in 2023, winning his second time out in the Wild West Super Late Model Series at All American Speedway. He will now return to Stockton 99 Speedway where he has three SRL starts and two top-five’s. His resume also includes a win in the Pacific Challenge Series and six top-five’s in 10 starts. He is looking forward to competing against some familiar faces and putting an end to a fellow champions 2023 domination.
“I’m just excited to come and drive a Super Late Model and be in the mix with the boys”, Moore stated. “Jacob Gomes has been dominating, and I’d like to come give him a run for his money, and also bang doors with pops (John Moore). Short track racing on these ¼-mile tracks is a thrill.”
Moore is thankful for those who have made this opportunity possible, as he states.
“I couldn’t do it without the generosity of my mother and father and my long-time crew chief Mario for keeping everything together.”
Round #6 of the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series will be the 33rd trip to the ¼-mile oval for the series. The “JM Environmental Inc. Wild West Shootout – Dog Eat Dog 127” will pay $10,000 to the winner, and $1,000 to start, for those on the Spears Frequent Flyer Program. It will be the only trip to Stockton for the series in 2023. They will be joined by the Spears Pro Late Models presented by Sigma Performance Services and the Spears Modified Series for the very first time. The NCMA Sprint Cars are also on the schedule. Admission Gates open at 5:00 PM with Racing at 6:00 PM.
