Bakersfield, CA – 2022 Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series Rookie-of-the-Year Zach Telford will make his first appearance at Colorado National Speedway (CO) on August 12th, when he and the Garcia Racing Team compete in the $10,000-to-win “Salted Metals Architectural Metals 150”. Telford, from Middleton, ID, has had a diversified schedule in 2023, competing in six different Super Late Models Series across six different states. Colorado will be state number seven for the teenager with over 60 victories in his young career. He will look for SRL win #1 at CNS.
“I’m super excited to head to Colorado”, Telford stated. “I feel like we have a good package to try and run up front there.”
Telford has competed in three of five Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series events in 2023, with a best finish of 16th at the “Winter Showdown” at Kern County Raceway Park (CA). His SRL rookie campaign found Telford earning two top-10’s in nine attempts, grabbing a season-best eighth at the Irwindale Speedway (CA) season finale, when 23 Super Late Models appeared. His series career bests occurred in 2021, when he finished sixth in both The New Stockton 99 Speedway (CA) events.
2023 has seen Telford make appearances in the Spears SRL Southwest Tour, SRL National, ASA Southern Super Series, CRA Super Series, Northwest Super Late Model Series, and Speed Tour Super Late Model Series. He has run events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Idaho, Tennessee, and Washington. He has three top five’s this year with a best of third at Meridian Speedway (ID). He will seek to add another top finish to his resume, in his seventh 2023 state of competition in his Garcia Racing, Project Filter, HomeSmiles, Builders First Source, Gibson Diesel Performance, FURY Race Cars Super Late Model.
On August 12th, the teams of the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series will return to Colorado National Speedway to compete for a $10,000 win, thanks in part to the “Winner’s Bonus” from PFC Brakes. An additional $500 will go to the Fast Qualifier, Longest Tow, Halfway Leader, and Hard Charger, thanks to David Nava Mulcahy (Homie) and Salted Metals. They will be joined by the local Super Stocks, Figure 8’s, and Grand American Modifieds. Qualifying is scheduled from 5:20 PM to 6:20 PM CST. Opening Ceremonies are set for 6:25 PM with Dashes for the local divisions at 6:30 PM. Intermission is scheduled for 7:30 PM with a Drifter Demo. Feature events are scheduled to begin at 7:40 PM for the Super Stocks (25 laps), Figure 8’s (20 laps), Grand American Modifieds (30 laps), at Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series (150 laps).
