Championship Leader Buddy Shepherd Heads to Colorado National Speedway

 
Bakersfield, CA – Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series championship leader Buddy Shepherd will make his first appearance at Colorado National Speedway (CO), when the series visits the 3/8-mile oval on August 17th for the “Salted Metals Architectural Metals 150”. Shepherd is coming off a victory at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway (CA) and will compete in his families Doby Hagar, Haddad Dodge / Ram Super Late Model. Shepherd will be racing for a $10,000 victory and his fifth win in the series.
Shepherd was the 2021 Rookie-of-the Year with the SRL, finishing third in the overall championship behind Derek Thorn and Jacob Gomes. He won three track championships in his Pro Late Model at Madera Speedway (CA). He added a championship at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in 2016. He has a win in the traditional $10,000-to-win “Short Track Shootout” at Madera Speedway (CA), as well as another $10,000 win in the “JM Environmental Highline 150” at All American Speedway (CA), both in his Pro Late Model. He won the Pole in 2018 at the prestigious “Winter Showdown” over a 48-car field. He finished second to Kyle Busch in the 300-lap, $30,000-to-win affair, outdueling current NASCAR Cup Series competitor Daniel Hemric. He has SRL wins at Madera (1), Kern (2), and Irwindale Speedway (1).
The Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series will visit CNS on August 17th for the “Salted Architectural Metals 150”, paying $10,000-to-win, thanks to David Mulcahy with Salted Architectural Metals. Second will pay $3,000, third $2,500, and fourth $2,250 thanks to Vecchiarelli Land and Trust. It will be the third visit for the series after Chris Muhler won in 2007 with Jace Hansen winning the 2023 edition. The Spears Modified Series will also join the action, racing for a $5,000 winner’s purse.
Celebrating its twenty fourth season in 2024, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series…Where the Champions Race”.
