Bakersfield, CA – 2019 Madera Speedway Pro Late Model champion Austin Herzog will team up with Travis Sharpe and Racing Dynamiks to participate in the 3rd Annual “All-Star Showdown 200” from Irwindale Speedway on February 5th. Herzog will bring a brand new VanDoorn Racing Development Super Late Model prepared by Racing Dynamiks to the $25,000-to-win event in hopes of improving his best Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series finish of second, which he scored at his home track in Madera.
Herzog will make his first series start on the ½-mile at Irwindale, after finishing 19th in the SPEARS Pro Late Model Series portion of the “All-Star Showdown” in 2021, on the 1/3-mile. Herzog has four starts in the Pro Late Model Series, also scoring a career best of second at ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY – ROSEVILLE CA. His Pro Late Model exploits include a Rookie-of-the-Year Award at Madera in 2017, followed by a championship runner-up effort in 2018. His championship in 2019 featured five victories overall, as he won both the overall championship as well as the Nut Up televised series championship. In 2018, he also scored a victory at Orange Show Speedway in the “West Coast Nationals 100”.
2022 will find Herzog starting his season at the “All-Star Showdown” with sponsorship from Rowe Environmental. Herzog will be the full-time driver of the Bill Mcanally championship #16 ARCA Menards Pro Series West ride with Travis Sharpe as his Crew Chief. The Clovis, CA driver will also compete in select Super and Pro Late Model events throughout the season.
The “All-Star Showdown 200” will take place on February 5th at Irwindale Speedway. It will kick off the 22nd season for the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour and the second for the SPEARS Pro Late Models presented by Sigma Performance Services. The Spears Modified Series will take part in their second event of the season, after opening at Havasu 95 Speedway. The Super Late Models will race for $25,000-to-win, with the Pro Late Models competing for $10,000-to-win and the SPEARS Modified Series will shoot for $5,000. Qualifying for all three divisions will commence at 2:00pm. 44 Super Late Models appeared in 2021 with 38 Pro Late Models and 22 Modifieds answering the call.
