Chris Eggleston to Make Rare 2024 Super Late Model Start
Bakersfield, CA – The 2015 ARCA Menards Pro Series West champion Chris Eggleston has filed his entry for the “Salted Metals Architectural Metals 150” at Colorado National Speedway (CO) on August 17th. Round #3 of the Spears SRL Southwest Tour season will pay $10,000 to the winner and will be the series third trip to the paved 1/3-mile oval. Eggleston participated in both SRL events at his home track, nearly winning the 2007 version in his rookie Super Late Model season, leading 85 of 150 laps. It is something he remembers to this day.
“I remember that race vividly, as I was new to Super Late Model racing”, Eggleston stated in 2023. “For whatever reason, our car was hooked up on American Racer’s, and I thought we were going to win that race in front a of an electric hometown crowd. That was until M.K. (Kanke) drove over us on a restart with a handful laps left. I remember the crowd, including my team and I, were pretty upset that night.”
Eggleston already has an impressive resume as the winner of CNS’s most prestigious annual race, the “Colorado Challenge Cup” in 2011. He was the winner of the “The Race” at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC) in 2011, pocketing $75,000. He has wins in the “Chilly Willy 150” and “Turkey Shoot 125” at Tucson Speedway. (AZ). He has over 25 Super Late Model wins at CNS and nine victories in the ARCA Menards Pro Series West. That includes three wins at CNS. He has another championship in the ASA Late Model Series Northern Division. He has five track championships in the Legends at CNS, including the last three seasons.
But Eggleston will make a rare start in 2024, where he has competed in only one feature event in his Super Late Model at CNS. In 2023 he finished seventh with the Spears SRL Southwest Tour at CNS, while finishing sixth at the “All Star Showdown 200” at Irwindale Speedway (CA). Eggleston’s best career SRL finish was a fourth at Rocky Mountain Raceway (UT) in 2017, in seven career starts. He will be looking to better that mark on August 17th with a $10,000 victory.
The Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series will visit CNS on August 17th for the “Salted Architectural Metals 150”, paying $10,000-to-win, thanks to David Mulcahy with Salted Architectural Metals. It will be the third visit for the series after Chris Muhler won in 2007 with Jace Hansen winning the 2023 edition.
Celebrating its twenty fourth season in 2024, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series…Where the Champions Race”.
