CODY HODGSON TEAMS UP WITH BOB STRANDWOLD RACING TO RUN SPEARS SOUTHWEST
Modesto, CA — Cody Hodgson of Escalon, CA will be back in the drivers seat with Bob Strandwold Racing (BSR) for the 2013 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series.
Hodgson, who raced three SRL series events in 2012, will make his 2013 debut at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 11th, driving the Ram Mechanical/BSR #0 Chevrolet.
Hodgson, who has been racing karts since age 5, ran a hand full of local stock car races in 2010, stepped up to compete in the NASCAR K&N East Series in 2011 supported by long time karting sponsor, Ocala Gran Prix out of Florida. After a successful rookie season in the K&N East Series and coming in 11th overall in the point standings, Hodgson returned home to California to concentrate on school while continuing to race his kart with Ocala Gran Prix.
On the National karting circuit, Hodgson is a two-time United States Grand National Champion along with earning multiple regional titles and DD2 Driver of the Year in 2008. His National titles have earned him spots on the U.S. Karting team at the World Finals including Egypt/2009 where he placed 3rd, Italy/2010 and Portugal/2012.
Hodgson knows after getting his feet wet in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series last season that this is a tough series with some really good drivers but he is ready for the challenge. When asked about racing for BSR Hodgson stated, “I am really excited for the chance to be part of such a great organization with two series (SRL) championships and super stoked for the opportunity to race with Bob Strandwold’s team.”
