Greely, CO racer Jace Hansen will be shooting for Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series victory number two, as the series heads to Tucson Speedway. for the $10,000-to-win JM ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. “Wild West Shootout Heatseeker 127”. Hansen was a winner in 2022 at Kern County Raceway Park, and he currently sits third in the 2023 championship standings after a second in the “Winter Showdown”. The 2022 “Colorado Challenge Cup” winner will make his third trip to Tucson Speedway after participating in the “Chilly Willy 150” in 2018 and 2019. He finished fourth in the latter event, in a 39-car field.
Hansen knows the track can be challenging because of its older surface, and a new tire combination should just add to the unknowns. With tire management a huge factor in this event, strategy will play a key role in Saturday night’s results.
“This race will be very strategic”, Hansen began, “The track is so rough, and to my knowledge, no one has run this tire combination there. I’m sure you will see several different strategies with tire management, and it will make for a great show. I was really hoping it was going to be 127 laps with no break. That break will also throw a wrench into things. I personally love this track and I’m very anxious to get out there and see how the weekend unfolds!”
The JM Environmental Inc. “Wild West Shootout-Heatseeker 127” will be Round #3 of the 2023 Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series schedule. $10,000 will be awarded to the winner of Saturday’s feature, thanks to the Winner’s Bonus from W.A.R. Shocks. For those on the Spears Frequent Flyer Program, the event will pay $1,000 to start. Over 20 Super Late Models are expected to roll through the gates at Tucson Speedway.
