John Moore Reunites with Son and Former Team at SRL Wild West Opener

Bakersfield, CA – When it comes to characters in racing, it is hard to find a bigger one than Granite Bay, CA driver John Moore. Moore will kick off his 2024 Super Late Model campaign at ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY – ROSEVILLE CA, in the mini-series created by the boisterous and popular Moore. The “JM Environmental Wild West Shootout Rock the House 127” on March 27th will also be the season opener for the Spears SRL Southwest Tour, and kickoff season number 24 for the series. It will be a reunion of son, team, and crew chief for the veteran chauffer.
For Moore, All American Speedway is now home. Moore was the Late Model track champion in 2021 and finished third in the JM Environmental Wild West Super Series earning four top-five finishes in five events. In Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series competition, he was the series runner-up racing for Derek Thorn Racing. It was consistency that earned Moore his best career series finish, with no efforts outside the top-11. He grabbed three top-five’s along the way, but he is still seeking his first series triumph after 60 starts. He sits 16th in career top-10’s with 34, while also producing 10 top-five efforts.
The 2024 season will find Moore back with the Naake – Klauer Motorsports operation, a team he spent three seasons with during his SRL and Pacific Challenge Series career. Although Moore did not find Victory Lane with the team in the SRL, he did in the PCS. They established a record of consistency, nearly always taking the checkered flag, and finishing races. Moore had only one DNF in 21 SRL races with the team, and he is looking forward to reuniting with them, as both he and Mike Naake have gained knowledge and experience since their last season together.
“I think Mike has learned even more about speed and setup since I last raced with him”, Moore explained. “I am really looking forward to it. He is a student of the sport, and he never stops learning. He focuses on what he feels is real and doesn’t fall into the latest and greatest fad tricks. He sticks to the basics and makes adjustments to what he feels is relevant. I am really looking forward to it.”
This season will also find Moore racing with his son Cole, who was the 2019 SRL champion, and a winner in the ARCA Menards Pro Series West. It is an opportunity that excites the 2022 West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame inductee. Racing with his son is an important part of competing on the short tracks of the West Coast, but don’t expect the father to cut the son any slack, when it comes to winning races.
“Cole and I will be racing together throughout 2024, in the Super Series at All American Speedway, and select SRL Wild West races”, Moore began. “I always enjoy having my son next to me in the pits. It’s what kept me racing. And as far as the competition part of it goes, it’s a door bangin’, tire rubbing, double throwdown get down, between father and son, every time we have that chance. Stickers always pay the price and Spring fever is fully upon us. We are going to get some testing in soon, and make these hot rods sing.”
Moore will make his 2024 hotrod rock concert series debut at the 24th Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series season opener on March 23rd, at All American Speedway. The “JM Environmental Wild West Shootout Rock the House 127” will pay $10,000 to the winner. It will be the fourth time the series has opened its’ season at Moore’s home track and the 14th visit overall. If Moore has his way, it will be a door banging, side swiping throwdown between the father and son. May the best Moore win!!
Celebrating its twenty fourth season in 2024, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series…Where the Champions Race”.
