November of 2010
Bakersfield, CA – In a race that time has seemingly forgotten, the SRL Southwest Tour visited Irwindale Speedway in November of 2010. The “Canidae California Classic 100” capped off the season in a non-points paying affair. But although the $10,000 to win event didn’t pay championship points, the MK Kankevictory is counted as one of the 2009 champions 11 victories, with all cars racing under the SRL “Tour” rulebook. 29 starters had to wait an extra day, when Saturday nights feature was rained out.
The event also saw Scott Sanchez set the series record for positions improved, racing from 29th to fourth. Sanchez failed to make a qualifying lap, forcing his start at the rear. Brennan Newberry was the Fast Qualifier with Kanke second-quick. Kanke would win over then Rookie-of-the Year competitor Ross Strmiska. Jonathon Gomez was third followed by Sanchez and Newberry.
