Derek Thorn Racing remained hot, winning his eighth Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series event in a row, coming home first in the “Nut Up 125 presented by 51 FIFTY LTM” from ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY – ROSEVILLE CA Saturday night. Thorn beat leading Rookie-of-the-Year contendor Buddy Shepherd by less than 0.8 seconds to score his 57th career victory and move one step closer to his sixth series championship. With his win, the Motor City Throwdown Challenge goes unclaimed, so the winner of the October Classic at Kern County Raceway Park will score an additional $3,500.
Buddy Shepherd moved closer to claiming the Rookie-of-the-Year title with his third runner-up finish and sixth top-five in nine events. John Moore continued his strong second half of the season, earning his third top-five in a row with a season best third-place run. Jacob Gomes Fan Page was the Performance Friction Brakes Zero Drag Fast Time Award winner, but came home fourth, followed by three-time Tucson Speedway Champion Brandon Farrington Racing.
The next event of the season will be the “2021 Season Finale October Classic” from Kern County Raceway Park on October 23rd, closing out the 21st season of the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour.
