Peltier Looks to Lead the SPS Team to All-Star Showdown Victory
One of the most successful Super Late Model drivers in the country is headed to Irwindale Speedway for the $30,000-to-win “Sunrise Ford All-Star Showdown” on February 6th. Preston Peltier will look to improve one more position over his 2020 Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series “All-Star Showdown” finish, and bring home the jackpot to his new home in Las Vegas, NV.
Peltier is one of the most well-known and successful Super Late Model racers in the country. His five Easter Bunny 150 wins at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC), a “World Crown 300” win at Gresham Motorsports Park (GA), and three “Summer Showdown” wins at Evergreen Speedway are evidence of this. He also possesses a “Colorado Challenge Cup” victory at Colorado National Speedway (CO) and a Chilly Willy win at Tucson Speedway to go along with his 2019 Fall Open Comp Super Late Model win at the LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track . On the touring side, he was the 2010 PASS South and PASS National Super Late Model Series Champion.
Peltier recently made the move from Brighton, CO to Las Vegas, NV to oversee Joe Farre’s Sigma Performance Services (SPS) Program. The team finished 2020 strong, with Brandon Farrington scoring consecutive top-fives at the October Classic at Kern County Raceway (CA), and then the “Retro Custom Metals 137” at “The Bullring”. Peltier himself debuted a brand new Super Late Model, of his own design, by setting the “Performance Friction Brakes Zero Drag Fast Time Award” at the October Classic. He ran wheel-to-wheel with race winner Derek Thorn until a flat tire ended his day. Peltier will be bringing that same SPS Super Late Model to Irwindale, looking to show how good their program is, along with kicking off a season of more participation behind the wheel, for the former Hendrick Motorsports fabricator.
“I think we have a really strong program”, Peltier stated. “We haven’t really had a chance to show that yet, and I think this race is the place to do it. We’ve been working on some things, and just getting used to what this particular car wants. I haven’t been behind the wheel of a car much, and we are changing that this year. This is as much a mental game as anything, and with the momentum we had from last year, I think it can put us where we need to be.”
If Peltier can repeat his season opening SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series victory at Irwindale Speedway in 2019, he will bring home that huge paycheck worth $30,000 and continue the momentum of the SPS Teams. In order to get that win, it takes a big effort and Peltier is thankful for the sponsors who make it possible.
I would really like to thank Joe Farre’ and the entire SPS Team for this opportunity”, Peltier expressed. “I would like to also thank our sponsors Swift Springs, Buzze Racing and Tilton Engineering.”
The 2021 “Sunrise Ford All-Star Showdown” will pay $30,000 to the winner of the 200-lap feature event at Irwindale Speedway on February 6th, thanks to Bob Bruncati. The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will be joined by the Spears Modified Series and the SPEARS Pro Late Models presented by Sigma Performance Services. For those unable to attend, the event will be shown live at www.SpearsRacing.TV and on a delayed basis on MAVTV.
Derek Thorn was the winner of the 2020 version, followed by Peltier, Jack Wood, Dylan Lupton and Linny White. More details on the event will be announced in the coming weeks as the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series gets set to kicks off its 21st season of competition.
Celebrating its twenty-first season in 2021, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series…Where the Champions Race”.
