Bakersfield, CA – In 2023, Kole Raz looked like the driver to beat in the $25,000-to-win “All-Star Showdown 200”, the season opener for both the Spears Manufacturing SRL National Late Model Series as well as the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series at Irwindale Speedway (CA). Raz earned the PFC Brakes “Zero Drag Fast Time Award” and led the opening 100 laps in dominating fashion. After the halfway break, lady luck turned her back on Raz, as the 2021 Kulwicki Driver Development Program finalist dropped though the field with a broken retainer clip on the right rear. He ultimately finished a disappointing 16th, two laps down.
Raz will now head back to Irwindale, looking for revenge, after last year’s “Showdown” edition. He will bring his family owned #27 Super Late Model to the fray, seeking the $25,000 payday. Raz has recently found some large paydays in the oval track wars, having won the “South Sound 200” at South Sound Speedway (WA) in 2022. He grabbed wins in the “Summer Showdown 150″ and Mark Galloway 75” at Evergreen Speedway (WA) in 2023. He crossed the line first in the inaugural “Wenatchee 200” at the Wenatchee Valley Super-Oval (WA), worth $20,000.
But Raz will continue to seek his first SRL win, after two second-place runs in 2023. Additionally, Raz finished second in his lone Northwest Super Late Model Series race at Wenatchee in 2023. Another second in the 2023 “Chad Hinkle Memorial” at South Sound Speedway keeps the Oswego, OR driver hungry for more. Saturday, February 3rd will be the perfect time to quench his thirst for victory and reel off a win in the biggest Super Late Model race on the West Coast.
Celebrating its twenty fourth season in 2024, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series…Where the Champions Race”.
