Ross Strmiska Returns to the SRL With a Familiar Family Team at the Bullring
Ross Strmiska has announced that he will be making his first start of the season with the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series at the LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track, in the Retro Custom Metals 137” on November 21st. Strmiska will be teaming up with Doug Rocha and Scott Masellis, as a teammate to Blaine Rocha, the 2016 winner of this event. In a turn of the tables, Blaine is a former driver for the Strmiska Team, when he teamed up with Ross to take on the SRL Series in 2014. Dave McGinnis will serve as the Crew Chief for the effort and Ross will drive the Super Late Model that Blaine drove in his return to the series earlier this season. Ron Strmiska Jr. will serve as the team leader, while also serving as the Crew Chief for Rocha.
Strmiska is coming off a season in which he finished third in the championship standings of the televised Nut Up Pro Late Model Series at Madera Speedway. He competed in eight of the nine events, with five top-five and six top-10 finishes. The son of the “Manteca Missile” is a veteran of the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series having 53 career starts, ironically tied with teammate Rocha. The duo will break a tie, with 2002 SRL Series Champion Jeff Anthony, for 16th on the all-time list. Strmiska is still looking for his first series victory, but he ranks 16th in all-time top-five’s, with 16 and 13th in top-10’s, with 35. His Bullring stats include 12 SRL starts, with four top-five’s, and eight top-10’s. His best finish was a third, which he accomplished twice. It will be his first Bullring start since the 2014 season.
Ross would like to thank his team and sponsors which include Masellis Drilling, Rocha’s Valley Enterprises, MASROC Farms, Nut Up Industries, Mainline Equipment, Frontier Lube and Farmers Blacksmith & Welding. He also would like to thank the entire Strmiska Racing Team “that gets it done for us to race, and my wife Rachel and my family….”.
The “Retro Custom Metals 137” will be run on November 21st, with $10,000 going to the winner thanks to David Nava Mulcahy (Homie). The Spears Modified Series will join the SRL in the event, for the “OPTIMA Batteries 75 presented by FAST – Fuel Air Spark Technology”. Practice will occur on Friday the 20th, with three sessions for the Super Late Models, beginning at 3:45 pm (PST) and ending at 7:30 pm. Saturday will find the Super Late Models practicing from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm. Qualifying is scheduled for 3:15 pm. The Last Chance Qualifier (if needed) will follow, with feature events rolling off thereafter. There will be a halfway break on lap 68 for the SRL Super Late Models.
