Scott Sanchez sat just outside the top-10 in the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series Championship Standings for a majority of the season, but closed strong to finish ninth in the final standings. Over the last four events, he finished 12th, 11th, 10th and a season best 8th to earn his four appearance in the top-10. It tied a career best for the Bakersfield, CA driver.
The “Chez” is the only driver currently competing in the series that participated in the inaugural season for the then SRL Wild West Late Model Shootout. Over the last 20 years, Sanchez has made 116 career starts in the series, second only to 2015 champion Jacob Gomes. He has a best finish of fourth in the “Canidae Classic 110” at Irwindale Speedway, an event in which he also set the series record for positions improved at 24. The veteran racer has 14 top-10 finishes in his career, to go along with two top-fives, the second of which was at the LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track in 2014.
The low budget grass roots racer has enjoyed many memorable moments over the years and is supported in 2021 by David (Homie) Mulcahy with SaltedMetals Architectural Metals Design And Consulting, Thomas Gibson with Gibson Crane LLC, Via Heart Project, Melo Transportation and the lady behind the scales, Michele Burrow.
