Throwback Thursday: The “High Plains Drifter”

Throwback Thursday: Known by many as the “High Plains Drifter”, Rick Carelli was one of most successful drivers in NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour Series history. Carelli was the 1991 series champion and the holder of 21 career victories, one behind all-time series leader MK Kanke. Carelli’s, home track was Colorado National Speedway, where he was one of only three drivers to score multiple Southwest Tour victories. Carelli turned the trick in 1992 and 1995. He threw in four “Colorado Challenge Cup” victories and another win in the ARTGO Challenge Series.

The Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series will return to the Colorado 3/8-mile paved oval on August 12th, for the first time since 2007. A full field of Super Late Models are expected for Round #6 of the series season.
